Marla has lived in central Ohio for over forty years, almost twenty-five in Madison County. Soon after being married, she and her husband moved to the county to start their family and raise their children. Marla earned her Bachelor of Arts in Criminology in 1990 and her Juris Doctor (law degree) in 1993 from The Ohio State University.
Public service is the foundation of the Farbacher family. In addition to Marla's twenty-three years as an assistant Prosecuting Attorney, her husband , Dana, is a retired homicide detective and hostage negotiator. In his retirement, Dana still teaches hostage negotiation at the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy and started a business in Madison County, Far-Barkers LLC, a boarding kennel for dogs and cats.
Marla is the proud mother of two sons, both of whom graduated from West Jefferson High School. Her eldest son, Ben, is a firefighter. Her youngest son, Thomas, is an undergraduate student at The Ohio State University.
